This Is Spinal Tap
Ep. 210 is live!
Hey folks! Welcome to Music Mayhem Month. We’re kicking things off by celebrating 40 years of “This is Spinal Tap,” and we are joined by local legend Marty Wombacher! Typically, this is where I launch into hype for this week’s episode, but…sacrifices have to be made this week, as there are many pokers in the fire at home, and behind the scenes. So short and sweet is what’s on tap today. We are incredibly grateful for Marty joining in on the fun for this episode. He’s quite the storyteller, and you can get but a taste of his talents and efforts with his “Meanwhile, Back in Peoria…” blog. An added treat for this week is an excerpt from Jason’s legendary interview with Harry Shearer himself. In that snippet, Harry talks about the actual origin and first appearance of Spinal Tap. Links to Marty’s blog, as well as the full episode of Couch Pilots featuring Jason’s full interview with Harry, will be found below. Finally, I’d like to include a picture of this one little factoid/element of this property that didn’t make it into the show: the This is Spinal Tap action figure set from Sideshow. First of all, I still think it’s cool that this was made, and each character's little extras are truly fantastic. Secondly, I have to say that it’s amazing how far Sideshow Toys have come in the game.
That said, Marty sat in for next week’s episode, the animated anthology flick “Heavy Metal.” I was blown away when I was introduced to this movie, and I was all too excited to talk about it! Sorry for the brevity this week, but there’s much to be done to prep for little Henry’s birthday, as well as for the show. In the meantime, take care, never let the party die, and as always…enjoy!
